this year’s remake/remodel

As an aside: why aren’t movie remakes called “cover versions”?

Anyway: I’ve put together a playlist of 25 of my favorite cover songs that I’ve run into during the first half of this year. (They don’t have to be new.) This one’s called Sad Keanu Is Everywhere.

I have no fabulous prognostication of trends to share, no betting tips for the cover-song sweepstakes. (There is a cover-song sweepstakes, right?) Just this playlist. And this paddle game. And this remote control. And these matches…

  1. Signals “Angst in My Pants” (Sparks)
  2. DJ Lobsterdust “Dance Is the Drug” (David Bowie vs. Roxy Music)

  4. The Dead Weather “New Pony” (Bob Dylan)
  5. The Mars Volta “Candy and a Currant Bun” (Pink Floyd)
